Why a Slow Website Loses You Customers (And What to Do About It)
Every extra second of load time costs you conversions. Here's what slows Slovak websites down, how to find out if yours is affected, and what to do about it.
Google has said it clearly: page speed is a ranking factor. But the numbers are even more convincing than the rules. Studies consistently show that every second of load delay reduces conversions by 7%.
What slows websites down?
Unoptimised images are the single biggest culprit. PNG and JPEG files without compression can weigh megabytes when kilobytes would do. Convert to WebP and use lazy loading.
Too many plugins, slow hosting, and unnecessary JavaScript libraries are the other usual suspects. Each one adds load time and pushes your Google ranking down.
How to check your website speed
Use Google PageSpeed Insights — enter your URL and get a score from 0 to 100 plus specific recommendations. Above 90 is great, 50–90 is average, below 50 is a problem that needs fixing.
